In defining trigonometry in real world situations, some examples are used in trigonometry, such as construction in building buildings. Trigonometry is used to define the angles and degrees in the measurements. Also trigonometry is used to define distances. For example if your trying to find the distance of a tree from yourself, you’d measure the length from you to the tree and measure the tree or give a rough estimate of how tall it might be and use trigonometry to figure out the distance.

The law of Sine is measured in radians or degrees. The sine of an angle is the ratio of the length of the opposite side to the length of the hypotenuse. You use the law of sine when you know 2 sides and an angle and you want to find the measure of an angle opposite a known angle.
The law of Cosine is measured in radians or degrees. The Cosine of an angle is the ration of the length of the adjacent side and the hypotenuse. The law of cosines is a formula that relates the three sides of a triangle to the cosine of a given angle. This formula allows you to calculate the side length of a non-right triangle as long as you know two sides and an angle. Also to calculate any angle of a triangle if you know all three lengths.
